ATTENTION WF RESIDENTS!!!
With severe weather expected later this week, including excessive rainfall, we are urging all residents to make plans now for dealing with flooding that may occur, especially in low-lying areas of town.
The city has equipment in place to handle large amounts of rain, but as with anything, there is a limit to what our equipment can handle. We have already coordinated plans with Franklin County EMA and surrounding areas to pool resources and assist any and every way that we can.
We are asking residents to ensure that any garbage be placed in containers, leaves cleared from boulevards, etc. This will ensure that the street gutters do their jobs efficiently. It's also advised that if residents have cardboard boxes or other items that could be damaged by water to make sure these items are off the floor where standing water can't reach them. This may be a good time to also ensure that your own gutters on your home are clear and working well.
We also highly encourage all residents to install the City of West Frankfort's app as well as the Franklin County sheriff's app. You can also subscribe to text alerts from Franklin County EMA by texting your ZIP code to 888777.
We will keep you updated as events unfold.

The City of West Frankfort's Outdoor Warning System will be activated for a maintenance test at 10:00 AM today. There is no need for alarm. This is only a test.
